hi, this is dr. hourglass, and welcome toanother video in our channel star bodies. today we are going to discuss lymphatic massagesafter a tummy tuck. in this channel we discuss everything you need to know to get that star body that you want. welcome back! lymphatic massage is a common procedure conducted after cosmetic surgery to decrease swelling. the lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system, involved in defending the body against infection. when burns or blisters occur, the fluid that develops inside is called the lymphatic fluid. however, lymphatic vessels become damaged from procedures such as liposuction or tummy tucks, resulting in significant swelling after surgery.

there are a number of techniques to decrease swelling such as girdles, elevation, icing, etc., but massaging can improve the swelling significantly. lymphatic drainage is a type of massage to help improve the area of injury, helping to remove the lymph. it is a lighter massage that uses firm strokes instead of deep tissue muscle massages where the lymph is pushed to decrease the swelling. lymphatic drainage is very useful and is a supplementary procedure to cosmetic surgeries such as tummy tuck or liposuction. this will expedite recovery and provide better results by removing the swelling and controlling scars that form from any cosmetic surgery.
