the closure results in a certain degree of tension. this tension, due to the pulling of the upward and downward vector, can cause the scar to widen after the incision has closed. this problem is more common for patients with better skin tone. if your skin tone is tight, the skin is will not stretch as much and the scar will be tighter as a result. this will increase the tension of the closure increasing the risks of having this problem. in order to decrease the tension of the closure and provide a better scar, the incision needs to be close in multiple layers. also you need to walk with your hips flex to diminish the tension of the closure after a tummy tuck.
